Samuel Diaz is a seasoned financial professional with nearly three decades of experience in fixed income trading, securities finance, and emerging markets. He brings to Young America Capital a rare combination of deep institutional trading expertise and a long-standing specialty in Latin American capital markets.
Samuel began his career at Banco Santander Central Hispano in New York, where he founded and led the firm's Emerging Markets Repo Desk. He went on to spend over a decade at Deutsche Bank Securities, rising to Director and Head of the Emerging Markets Repo Desk across both New York and London. There he managed a repo portfolio of $3 billion comprising Latin American, Eastern European, Asian, and Middle Eastern sovereign and corporate instruments, while growing the firm's Latin American client business by 50% and establishing Deutsche Bank as a dominant force in Turkish markets.
Following Deutsche Bank, Samuel held senior trading roles at Banco Votorantim Securities, where he managed the expansion of the Brazil Fixed Income desk in New York, and most recently at Santander Investment Securities, where as Senior Vice President he led the Latin American fixed income repo trading effort — generating $1 billion in client repo volumes and successfully relocating the entire EM repo business from Madrid to New York.
Samuel holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Master of Arts in International Political Economy and Development, both from Fordham University. He holds FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 licenses and is fluent in Spanish.
His institutional relationships across Latin America, Europe, and the United States, combined with his expertise in structured finance, sovereign debt, and emerging market credit, make him a valuable resource for clients navigating complex cross-border transactions.
