The Extreme Clipper Ship - Young America was built in 1853 at a cost of $140,000. With dimensions of 243' long by 43' wide, she held 1961 tons of cargo, and sailed from New York to San Francisco (around Cape Horn) and to/from Europe until 1886.
Per the Marine Research Society: "For beautiful lines and handsome appearance she was not excelled by anything afloat".
